The Hardcore Hip-Hop Legend Turned Law Enforcer. Born Tracy Marrow, better known by his stage name Ice T, is a legendary figure in the world of hip-hop. Raised in the tough streets of South Central Los Angeles, Ice T's life took a dramatic turn when he joined the military, serving in the 25th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War. After his discharge, he returned to Los Angeles and began his career in music, eventually becoming one of the founding fathers of heavy metal-influenced hip-hop, a subgenre now known as 'crossover.' His iconic roles in films and television shows, such as 'Breakin',' New Jack City,' and 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,' have further solidified his status as a cultural icon.
